Preventing, Countering, and Investigating Terrorist Attacks through Prognostic, Detection, and Forensic Mechanisms for Explosive Precursors
Preventing, Countering, and Investigating Terrorist Attacks through Prognostic, Detection, and Forensic Mechanisms for Explosive Precursors
Fighting terrorism requires an arsenal of tools. One of these is knowledge about explosive precursors – chemical substances that can be used for legitimate purposes, but can also be misused for the illicit manufacture of home-made explosives. In this context, the EU-funded ODYSSEUS project will develop effective and efficient prognostic, detection and forensic tools to improve prevention, countering and investigation of terrorist incidents involving home-made explosives. The knowledge will help in the development of tools for monitoring the chemical supply chain and sensing in (near) real-time explosive precursors. The tools will be field-tested in three operational use cases.
